Second ramen joint we hit up. Located in the Mitsuwa Market on Centinela. This place is actually a chain from Japan, and there are two of these, I believe, in La La Land. Known for its shio (salt) ramen, so of course I had to give it a try.

shio ramen They're very proud of the particular type of salt that they use. This was delicious. The seaweed, the bamboo, the scallion, the noodles and the egg were all great. The pork had a nice flavor if one of the two pieces was a little dry.

Santoka's shio ramen was highly recommended by crazybluepanda's brother-in-law. This was one of the better ramens that I have tasted so far. Despite it's name, the shio ramen was not salty at all. However, it was rather oily. Santoka's noodles are slightly thicker than most noodles, so it fills up more space in your mouth.

there was a name for this, but i can't remember... anyway, it's on the mutekiya menu for a limited time only! (i think they stop making it around june) but it was sooo sooo good. the pork was thick, tender and juicy... and the tonkotsu soup was so flavorful! the portion was huge too, i was barely able to finish it!

my very first meal in tokyo during this trip. this ramen stall has several branches in tokyo. the one i went to was in asakasa, near my hotel. went into the 12 seater restuarant and bought a 850 yen ticket. with that, i can choose 4 additional toppings in addition to the single slice of charsiew (焼豚). i chose the half boiled egg, spicy preserved vegetable, pork belly and generous serving of spring onions. i chose the noodles to be springy and thin. i hate soggy noodles. i love it when it feels it is just a tad undercooked. the soup base was tonkotsu (pork bone) as the soup was cloudy white. the ramen was satisfying but not addictive. it was a hearty meal for me. the guy besides me added a bowl of rice andd gyōza (ギョーザ), he must be really hungry.
